This is going to seem like a shameless plug for Specialty Casting, but honest to goodness — I’m actually bragging about my husband!
My husband, Hun’r, and I have been together for 11 years. When I first met him, he wore a James Avery cross pendant every single day. When he graduated, his mom bought him a custom sterling silver medallion with Hebrew letters etched into the front, and he wore that pendant for 10 years.
I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing that my husband loves jewelry as much as I do! I was actually a little surprised when he came home one day (as gold was climbing due to covid) and said “I think I want to have my pendant remade in gold.”
His new pendant is 18k gold with 22k letters in Hebrew that translate to “I am blessed.”
We don’t have the right chain for it yet, but we’re on the hunt!
The pendant was made in multiple parts by our expert CAD designer whose name happens to be Hunter. (Not Hun’r.)
It was Hunter who had the brilliant idea to do the letters in 22k.
Specialty Casting did the CAD, casting, finishing and assembly for this piece. Literally from start to finish.
Once it had been cast, each piece had to be individually placed into the pendant.
I’m a sucker for sandblasting, and I think this finish turned out great! Still shiny and new, it has an old feel to it somehow.
Truly, I believe we’re seeing a rise in yellow gold. With the sharp increase in gold’s value, I think we’re all reminded of what gold really is. Gold is a currency, it’s industrially and technologically significant, and its trade is economically impactful to countless industries and peoples all over the world. I think that as people appreciate the value of gold, they want to show off its natural color. I don’t wear any white gold jewelry, but partially because if I did I would absolutely hate for someone to see it and ask “Oh, is that silver?”
I could be wrong but I think yellow is back.
What do you think?
Is it unusual for 29-year-old Hun’r to be wearing an 18k/22k pendant?
Do your millennial customers buy yellow gold jewelry?
I want to know!
